The COACHEE’s Experience: Coaching for a new role
All it takes is a spark!
Starting a new job can be challenging, a new culture to adapt to, new ways of working and new people to connect with. My coachee’s organisation offered her coaching with me to support her in her first year to build confidence and develop in the organisation.
‘I was mostly able to deal with my own assumptions and preconceptions about success and what that looked like for me, my own expectations of myself, and how I place a value on myself and other things.’
Did you talk about what was important to you?
“Sarah was always supportive in talking about anything that felt really important to me. On many occasions, I didn’t realise something was an important issue or topic for me until I began talking about it with Sarah and she was able to guide and focus my thoughts towards it. Sarah listened and was able to pick up on tiny things I said and lead me to uncovering what these things may indicate.”

Did you feel supported and encouraged?
“I feel a much stronger and more resilient version of my self, and much more confident in myself following my coaching with Sarah.”
What will you do differently as a result of the coaching?
“I have always been a self-reflective, deep-thinking person. In the past, this has become a self-destructive quality at times. As such, coaching has enabled me to frame this thinking and be able to use it for positive influences only.”
