The Woodland Trust: Skipton Castle Woods Audios

Tell stories that spark excitement…

The Woodland Trust appointed The Authentic Spark to add a different dimension to the visitor’s experience of Skipton Castle Woods by creating a range of audio pieces.

The Voices of Skipton Castle Woods offers visitors the opportunity to ‘meet’ the characters of the Woods. They discover a variety from Eller Beck (the river) to a Quarryman from the nearby quarries. The project also included developing audio content to compliment the existing leaflet-based Earl of Thanet trail.

“Sarah’s meticulous research, experience of interpretation and her understanding of our audiences was a huge benefit to us…The woodland’s industrial history has been made accessible to today’s visitors through Authentic Sparks careful selection of actors, engaging dialogue and detailed research.”

Hazel Birdsall, Visitor Experience Manager, Skipton Castle Woods, Woodland Trust.

I made a detailed site visit of the Woods with the client team. I undertook local and desk-based research, including oral histories from Craven Museum & Gallery. Through consultation with the Skipton Folk Club I sourced a local band to provide a recording of a folk song. I also worked with Heritage Interactive to co-ordinate and undertake the sourcing of voice-over artists, record and edit the audios.
